We are celebrating Teen Read Week in the Freedom Media Center by having contests and games. Also, the Cafe-Readalatte grand opening for the 2010-2011 school year is Wednesday morning at 7:45.
Don’t forget to stop by the media center to enter the contests and participate in the games.

Three Cheers for the Book Fair!
The fall bookfair is coming to Freedom THIS week! We will be open on Friday, August 27th through Thursday, Septmeber 2nd. The much anticipated sequel to The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, Mockingjay will be available, as well as 39 Clues #10. Come see us!

State Award Received
The Freedom Media Center received the 2010 Exemplary Middle School Media Center award from the state of Georgia over the summer. We are humbled and excited to be given this recognition! We will continue to work hard to give the Freedom community the best media center ever in 2010-2011!

Our chess board is out again, so all you Chess masters come on down! Very soon our puzzles will be out also. Come by and place a piece or two…pretty soon we’ll have them completed!
2009-2010 Coming to an End
As this school year comes to an end, it’s time to think about getting all materials back in their places to hibernate for the summer. Please return all materials by May 7th. If you need something longer, come see me.

Georgia Peach Award Winners Announced
The Georgia Peach Award winners were announced this morning. They are:
Winner: The Hunger Games
1st Honor: City of Bones
2nd Honor: 13 Reasons Why
The Hunger Games and City of Bones are our 2 most requested titles this year. Seems like everyone agreed with Freedom students that both are excellent titles. If you haven’t read them, what are you waiting for???!
Spring Book Fair Coming Monday!
Look under your bed, in your pockets, under the rug, anywhere you think you can find some change, and bring it to the book fair, beginning Monday. You don’t want to be caught during Spring Break without anything to read! See you there!
GALILEO Password Changing Soon
The GALILEO password will change on March 24th. Visit the media center or ask your homeroom teacher for the new one. You don’t want to be caught without it!
March is Women’s History Month
Come visit the media center during March and you’ll see displays in the non-fiction area highlighting women in history. Why not use this month to read a biography of one of the famous women to satisfy one of your Dewey requirements? We also have many historical fiction titles about women in history for your reading pleasure.
