I’ve taken a vacation from blogging lately, but the Media Center has been operating full steam ahead!
Now that we’re in 2012, I wanted to let you know to check out Kirk’s Corner. If you are looking for a good title, click on that page of the blog to see what Dr. Kirk’s students have to say about books they have read. I’m sure you’ll find some good recommendations!
The 1st quarter is almost over and boy have the Patriots been reading! I have distributed 5 boxes of Hershey bars already this year! Way to go!

Teen Read Week is October 17-21st and to celebrate, Cafe Read-a-latte will be back with a few tweeks. Stay tuned for more info soon! We’ll also have contests with prizes throughout the week. A fun time will be had by all who participate!

Those are words to a famous song in the opera “Porgy and Bess”, sung by the jazz singer, Ella Fitzgerald. That was a long time ago, but they are hopefully still true today. My wish for you is to get some rest and relax awhile. Do something you love to do but don’t have time during the school year. I hope you’ll also have some time to read a fun book. Don’t worry if it’s AR or not, just read it, just for the fun of it!

To attend the Dewey party (which you don’t want to miss!) you’ll need your Dewey sheet signed, sealed, and delivered to Mrs. Ward by May 9th. Don’t delay…you can finish! The party is May 12 during Connections.
The Galileo password was changed Monday. Do you have the current one? If not, stop by the Media Center to get it.
Come visit the book fair Monday through Wednesday this week from 8:00-3:30. Thursday we’re open from 8-12. Lots of new titles just in time for spring break!
Mmm…hot chocolate, a latte with lots of whipped cream…sounds good to begin a cold day with a hot drink…Those of you who have read 20 books on your Dewey sheet will be happy to know that Cafe Readalatte will open again before the February break. If you haven’t read your 20 books yet, don’t despair…you can get one for the high price of….$.50! Come on your designated day and hang out with your friends before school. February 16, 17, 18…put them on your calendar NOW so you won’t forget. The 16th is for 8th grade, 17th for 7th grade, and 18th for 6th grade…See ya!
With the recent shootings in Arizona and the resulting dialogue, I was wondering what the students at Freedom think about violence in books and media that you read. Do you think it is too much? Do you think it affects teenagers (good or bad)? I would love to hear your comments.
